One
day, there was a woman named Lisa, sitting alone in the corner of a restaurant.
She was about 34 years old and until now, she hasn’t married yet. Lisa was a
fatty woman and she always wore big eyeglasses in her eyes. For woman in her
age, it is a little bit too late to get marry.
Her parents always arranged someone to date her, but no one came to meet
her. At that night, Lisa planned to have a blind date with someone who
contacted her via social media. They were promised to meet each other in
restaurant at 8.00 pm. Lisa was so nervous to wait his blind date’s partner.
Once in a while, she looked at her mirror to touch up. One hour passing, but it
seemed that her blind date’s partner didn’t come yet. She patiently waited her
blind date’s partner to come. Two hour passing but still there was no one
coming. The clock has already pointed its pointer to 10.00 p.m.
“ madam, I’m very sorry,
you have to leave our restaurant now. Because we want to close our restaurant”
Said one of the waiters in that restaurant
“ but, I’m waiting for
someone, 10 minutes more please. Maybe he is trapped in traffic jam” Lisa’s
begging
“I’m sorry madam, but we should close our
restaurant now”
Lisa
finally gave up and left that restaurant. She drove her car slowly until she
stopped in front of her house.
“ How’s your dating
dear?” Lisa’s mom asking
“ you can guess mom”
replied Lisa in a pessimistic voice.
Lisa
hurriedly walked to her room and prepared herself to go bed. When she lay on
her bed, she couldn’t close her eyes. Her body was in her room, but her thought
in the different place. She kept asking why there was no one wanted to see her.
She woke up and walked toward a big mirror that mounted on her wall.
“ Mirror..mirror in the
wall, Am I ugly? Am I too fat? Am I not good looking?.. please answer me” Lisa
talked to her mute mirror
Lisa kept asking her mirror like a crazy till
she burst into tears.
“ God, why in my age, I
don’t have a boyfriend? I want to share
my life with someone but you never send someone to me. It’s so unfair. Every
body mocking me because I remain single until now. I always set a blind date,
but it’s always failed. I’m dying to know, why they never meet me ?. Is it
because I’m not that good looking? I guess all of men in this world are only
look at how beautiful a woman is. It’s so annoying”
When
morning came, Lisa woke up with swollen eyes because all night long she was
cried alone in her bedroom. She was ready to have breakfast with her mom.
“ Good morning dear”
Lisa’s mom greeted her
“ morning”
“Dear, I have great news
for you. Do you still remember Arman? He is your childhood friend who moved to
America to continue his study. He will visit you this evening. It’s a good idea
to have a date with him”
“Come on mom, I don’t
want to talk about dating or something. I have enough with that all”
“dear, but it’s
different, he specifically come to Indonesia to see you”
“ seeing me? are you
kidding me mom? We haven’t meet for a very long time. I guess he doesn’t remember
me. He doesn’t even contact me” Lisa said in annoyance
“He
remembers you indeed. He said that he really wants to meet you. You will be
very surprise, if you see him. He is totally changed. He is very handsome now”
“Handsome? Ah come on
mom, he was so big and yahh..You know, how did he look at that time
right?” Said Lisa desperately
“I don’t care what
you’re saying, you should meet him in Whorfian restaurant at 8.00 pm. Deal?”
said Lisa’s mom insisting
“But mom..mmmMm”
“ Deal, now go to work”
Lisa’s mom pushed her away.
Lisa
kept thinking about her mom’s saying. Actually, she didn’t want to have a blind
date again. However, one thing that kept bugging her, her mom has said that he was
handsome and it made Lisa interested in Him. Then, Lisa recalled back her
childhood memory when she was with Arman. When she was in junior high school,
Arman was the only person who wanted to become Lisa’s friend. Arman was very
kind to Lisa. He always helped Lisa when she was in trouble. However, when they
graduated from Junior high school, Arman moved to America to continue his study
there. Arman promised to Lisa to comeback as a mature man. Lisa actually
disappointed with Arman, because he never contacted her when he was in America.
However, remembering Arman’s promise, Lisa finally decided to meet Arman. She
prepared her best to look beautiful in front of him.
Lisa
went to the restaurant alone; as usual, she wore heavy make up and mini skirt
that made her looked feminine. She waited him patiently in a table that had
number 4 on it. One hour passing, but she did not see someone coming. Then Lisa
was thinking, did Arman was the same with those men who have promised to meet
her? Lisa decided to leave that restaurant because she was sure that Arman
would never come. Lisa Left restaurant while crying.
“you are stupid Lisa,
why don’t you think it carefully. You never learn from your previous experience.
There will be no one seeing you because you are an ugly and old woman. And one
thing, why do you think that Handsome “Arman” will come to see you. Handsome
man always like beautiful woman and vice versa. Please be realistic Lisa” Lisa
said to herself
When
Lisa walked towards her car, suddenly there were beautiful fireworks in the
sky. She was amazed by its beauty. Then, a handsome man with neat coat
approached her.
“ Lisa, sorry for making
you waiting for me” he said
“ I’m sorry, who are you?
do I know you?” Lisa asked that man
“ don’t you remember me?
I’m your childhood friend, Arman”
“A.aaa…arman?”
“yeah, it’s me. How are
you?”
Lisa didn’t believe that the handsome man who
stands in front of him was Arman, her childhood friend.
“Finally this awaited
day coming, I really want to see you Lisa. I’m dying to see you”
“w..why..why.. you want
to see me? “ Lisa asked Arman in a puzzle
“because you are special
to me”
Hearing that beautiful word, Lisa’s face turned
red.
“I have waited this day
to come since I left Indonesia. At that time, my dream was to protect you. But
how can I protect you if all people saw me as a coward boy. That’s why; I
decided to follow my parents to move to America. I want to be a mature man who
can protect you” Arman Explaining
Lisa was so shocked hearing what Arman said
“ Please don’t make me look
like a fool arman. That story is not funny at all” Said Lisa In disguised
“I’m serious Lisa, since
you were in Junior high school; I’ve been in love with you. Now, we are mature
enough to have relationship”
“ Don’t tell a lie Arman,
if you’re in love with me, why you never contacted me? Is that making a sense?”
Said Lisa in a disbelieve
“Maybe I never contacted
you, but I always contact your mom to know your condition. I asked your mom to
keep it secret. When I knew that you are arranged to date someone, you know my
heart is hurt. And every time I heard the news that you are neglected by your
blind date’s partner, I wanted to run to you to prove that they were so stupid
for neglecting someone like you”
Lisa
was so speechless. Unconsciously, the tears stream ran down to her cheeks. She
hardly believed what Arman just have said.
“ ar..arr.man,,,but you
are handsome and I..m..mm am so ugly” Said Lisa in trembling voice
“I’m not judging people
from their appearance, I love you because you are such a good girl and I knew
it since the very beginning. And now, I bravely say, Will you marry me” said
Arman while kneeling down.
Lisa extremely shocked because Arman proposed
her.
“ Arman…you don’t know
me so well, how could you..?” Said Lisa still in disbelieves.
“ maybe I don’t really
know you so well, but my heart know you so well. I’m sure that I make the right
choice to make you be mine. If you accept me, I’ll make you the happiest woman
in this world….so will you marry me Lisa?” Arman convinced Lisa
“ Arman, maybe you’re
right. I don’t know you so well but my heart,,,my heart recognized you so well.
So..I…I..I will marry you”
Finally, Lisa accepted Arman’s proposal. Even
though Lisa and Arman didn’t know each other well, but they decided to get
marry because they believe in their heart. Arman Held Lisa’s hand tight and they
enjoyed the fireworks in the sky. Lisa finally realized that “True love will
come to those people who patiently wait it”.
